Across the three main landmasses that make up Broken Isle are five lakes. These are all at the islands' highest points and, while not necessarily large, are broken isle puzzle visible from the map. When approaching each lake, you'll notice that there are two "pedals" made of rock. These can be used to raise and lower the water level of the nearby lake. There are three possible water levels: mostly empty, midway full, and mostly full. Where to find clues for the Broken Isle Puzzle in Genshin Impact The clue to solving the Lake Puzzle can actually be found while completing another quest which takes you to Broken Isle.
While on the trail of the murals for The Other Side of Isle and Sea, you broken isle puzzle to head to the island's south beach, right below the mountain where the teleport waypoint is.
Here you’ll see a Painted Wall mini-game marked out with an image of the Dodo-King. Broken isle puzzle this wall by using the Wind-Blessed Harpastum on it and enter the cave that’s revealed. There might be some minor enemies to fight in here, but more importantly there will broken isle puzzle be a mural. This is one of five murals you need to photograph to finish this quest, but more importantly for our current purposes, it's actually a hint to completing the Lake Puzzle.
How to solve the Broken Isle Puzzle in Genshin Impact The central compass rose on the mural indicates which of the five lakes the corresponding image refers to. From this, we learn that the lake water needs to be set to the following levels: • The lake on the small island to the northwest needs to be filled to midway (Level 2).
• The lake on the western edge of the central island needs to be mostly full (Level 3). This lake will be empty at first; fill it by breaking the Hydro Elemental Amber before completing the puzzle. • The lake at broken isle puzzle centre of the main island needs to be mostly empty (Level 1). • The lake on the eastern edge of the central island needs to be filled to midway (Level 2).
• The lake on the mid-sized island to the northeast needs to be mostly empty (Level 1). This lake will be empty at first; fill it by breaking the rock pile (use Elemental Sight to identify it if you're unsure). Broken isle puzzle will cause a waterfall to fill the lake, allowing you to complete the puzzle. Return to the lakes in turn and fill them to the appropriate level using the rock pedals.
Completing the puzzle and getting the reward After filling the lakes to the correct levels, head to the north of the main island, where you will find five stone pillars, corresponding with the five lakes. Each pillar will have a rock pedal like the ones at the lake, plus a unique number of stripes on it, effectively numbering them from 1 to 5.
Activate the pedals in order: • The central pillar with one stripe. • The southwestern pillar with two stripes. • The northeastern pillar with three stripes. • The northwestern pillar with four stripes. • The southeastern pillar with five stripes. Once you've done this correctly three chests will spawn as your reward. You'll also hear a brief bit of unique music, and get some special dialogue with Paimon.

You may also take a look at our main guide for the Midsummer Island Adventure/Golden Apple Archipelago.
Genshin Impact: Broken Isle water pillar puzzle guide If you take a look at our guide’s featured image up top, you’ll notice that there are five odd-looking pillars just north of the fast travel point on Broken Isle.
Each pillar also has several “scratch marks” from one to five. There are also five stones that you can step on and they’d emit a sound.
We won’t need to worry about these for now. Instead, you’ll want to head to the southwestern section of the central rock formation (below the fast travel point). Here, you’ll find a Painted Ground/Painted Wall minigame. Simply equip the Harpastum gadget, go inside the marked area, and press “E” to throw it. Whenever the ball bounces back to your character, press left-click on your mouse to toss it back at the wall (i.e., it’s like tennis). Eventually, the wall broken isle puzzle get destroyed revealing a small cave.
Take out the mobs here and you’ll find a mural (which is also part of another secret sidequest in the Golden Apple Archipelago region). This mural gives you a clue as to what these water pillars are for. Take note of the image below: So, we’ve got five pillars on the beach. Now, we see five drawings of “containers” that seem to be filled with water.
What do these mean? Well, go ahead and open your world map. Broken isle puzzle you look at the Broken Isle area, you’ll notice that there are five ponds surrounding this location. Yes, those “containers” represent each pond. If you go to each spot, you’ll find a small body of water with some scratch marks denoting the water level. In a few cases, you might need to destroy stones/rocks just to have the water start to trickle in.
Anyway, if you use the two stepping stones near the ponds, you can increase or decrease the water level as well. Just look at the example below for the central pond near the fast travel point. We have to use the stepping stones to bring it down to the lowest water level to follow what’s drawn on the mural. To summarize, we need to do the following for each pond: • Central/south – Lowest water level • Southeast – Mid • Northeast – Lowest • Southwest – Highest • Northwest- Mid If you’ve done all of these, return to the beach where you spotted the water pillars.
Take a look at the scratch marks. These denote the order that you’d step on the corresponding stones. Follow this sequence: • 1 – central/south • 2 – southwest • 3 – northeast • 4 – northwest • 5 – southeast After completing the puzzle, the ground will shake and a short cutscene will follow.
To be frank, I didn’t see any new island emerge out of nowhere. Instead, you’ll end up with three treasure chests that you can open. That’s it, you’re done with this puzzle.
Don’t forget that there are still some additional secrets for you to discover such as the ones north of Twinning Isle, west of Minacious Isle, and near the Waverider challenge starting point.
While you’re at it, you may also look for the shipwreck locations and hidden murals in the Golden Apple Archipelago. Genshin Impact is available via its official website. The Broken Isle is no exception to this rule, and you will likely notice just from looking at the map that it has quite a few strangely placed lakes. These lakes all link to a puzzle, which can be a bit difficult to understand. Each lake has stones that will chime when stepped on and fill or drain the lake's water. Related: Genshin Impact: How To Unlock The Midsummer Island Adventure In fact, you've likely stepped on the central lakes stone by accident.
To complete the puzzle you will need to use a hidden mural that's part of the "The Other Side of Isle and Sea quest" to figure out how to get your reward. The quest revolves around going to the five different lakes scattered around the Broken Isle and altering how much water they hold. Near every lake will be two stones that will chime as you raise and lower the water.
Use these stones to match the lakes to the mural ( Starred location on the map above) found inside of the hidden cave hidden behind a painted wall on the isles southern beach. The mural is a bit hard to decipher at first, especially since it only seems to be a piece of the Golden Apple's story.
